Wales Identity Day 2006

To celebrate Wales Identity Day 2006, HLF went on tour to find out what makes people’s local heritage special to them. We invited people to talk to us at community events in Wrexham, Aberystwyth, Neath, Ebbw Vale and Newport.

The events culminated in the unveiling of a mosaic mural at Newport Indoor Market on 24 November 2006. The mosaic draws on the objects and figures that mattered most to the participants – from an Abaraeron shovel to Aneurin Bevan, from Newport's Transporter Bridge to historic coins.
