Wales Identity Day
Dan Clayton Jones

Dan Clayton-Jones explained why HLF was launching 'Wales Identity Day' as an annual day to discuss heritage in Wales, and why HLF places such importance on involving the public in deciding what should be preserved for future generations. He pointed out that regular consultation with the public in Wales unveiled a real passion for their past, the need to preserve it, and the impact that heritage projects can have on communities in terms of regeneration.
Dan demonstrated the huge breadth of HLF funding, explaining that small projects should be valued just as much as flagship projects such as the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea: 'The impact that the funding can have on communities is staggering, not just in terms of restoring heritage sites, but how that work can instill pride and really improve the daily lives of people living in those areas."
